The fever of politics that had swept through the colleges of American prior to the 2008 presidential in my eyes of which are of a college student has slipped into hibernation it seems. Gone are the days when walking through the student union you could pick up tidbits of conversations about Obama this and “Hope and Change”. No one seems to mention the huge stimulus bill or the stock markets spiraling out of control. Now it seems the college student has transformed from political analyst to a college student that is upset that Obama’s press conference on the stimulus package caused Gossip Girl to not be on. It seems ironic that some of President Obama’s loudest supporters seemly stopped caring the moment he took the oath of office…you wonder how many even know he took it twice.
If these students are indeed in the Obama nation hibernation then how will the Republican candidate be able to overcome this sleeping giant of young Americans that will surely awake from four years of deep political sleep with chants of FOUR MORE YEARS. It can almost be assured that this will be echoed by the next group of first time voters sure to be wooed by President Obama's soaring rhetoric, that more than likely will send a “Thrill” up Chris Mathews leg. With Obama having a solid group of supporters that seemly will vote for him no matter what because to them “Gdubs” ruined our country and economy, and the movie "W" is to them a documentary. We are at major cross road in our country and decisions made now will have a serious impact on the lives of our generation and our children s we have already gave them a huge debt to pay back. But the majority of college students seem to think that they voted in November watched the inauguration in January and now seem to think everything will be ok and we will get all the "Hope and Change" we need so they slip back to their normal lives.
How easy will it be for a president that already has the majority of people between the age of 18-26. Along with the support he will receive from the voters who he is handing out taxes payers money to that don't even pay taxes though that is a story for another day...
The best hope for the Republican candidate in 2012 is that this sleeping giant awakens before then and smells the sweet roses of crashing stock and housing markets otherwise it could be four more years of spending package after spending package because you know that's what a stimulus package is according to the Comrade I mean President Obama.....
